Hey everyone! Thailand is still amazing! I just can't believe that I've only been here for a week and have done so much! After being in Bangkok for 2 days we moved up North to Chiang Mei. This is where Paul's family lives. Since being here we've gone to numerous markets, night bazaars, temples, umbrella factory (where they make all those pretty fans and umbrellas...they also make paper there), etc. We also had Paul's grandma's birthday celebration up here which was very very nice (fancy dinner and stuff). We went even farther up north to Chiang Rei overnight to see some cool stuff too. Chiang Rei is right near the border so we did a lot of driving through the country side (saw lots of rice paddies). We went to the Golden Triangle (where Thailand, Burma, and Laos meet). This is a pretty dangerous drug trafficking area (lots of opium). We went into both Burma and Laos and did more shopping at markets. It was rainy, but still really nice. We also got to go to a hot springs! It was too hot to actually get into the water (naturally boiling water)...so, instead some locals sold us quail eggs and we cooked them. Very good :) Anyway, just resting up now so we can be ready to go to another night bazaar tonight and then out to another bar/club (in Chiang Mei we're really close to the University...so we can go to all of the local student hangouts)
ooo haha...we went to thise one place called Warm-up and it was absolutely crowded. me and paul went with his cousin Bankie and his girlfriend Nice (funny names huh? another one of pauls friends here is named air. haha) it was funny there because they played all american music (they love the black eyed peas here)...none of the people there could dance (and no one would touch each other) so when me and paul started dancing everyone was staring at us and some girls giggled a little...but, they were still polite and smiled. thai people are very interesting...lol
anyway, thats all for now...don't want to share too much, won't have anything to say when i get back!
